After your visit
Recovery & Aftercare
Most discomfort is mild and short. Here is what to expect day by day, how to care for the work that was done, and how to stay in touch between visits.
What to expect
First 24 hours
Rest and protect
Some swelling, mild bleeding, or numbness from anaesthetic is normal. Stay close to your hotel, eat soft foods, and avoid hot drinks until sensation returns.
Days 2–7
Easing back to normal
Swelling peaks around day 2–3 and improves quickly. Stick to your prescribed medication, gentle brushing, and the soft food list your specialist gave you.
Weeks 2–4
Healing settles
For implants and surgery, soft tissue healing is well underway. You may have a follow-up scan or virtual check-in to confirm everything is on track.
Long-term
Maintenance
Cleanings every 6 months, plus any specialist-specific reviews (implant maintenance, aligner refinement, periodontal upkeep).
Daily aftercare
- Brush gently twice a day with the brush style your specialist recommended
- Use the prescribed mouth rinse for the period your specialist advised — no longer
- Avoid smoking and alcohol for at least 72 hours after surgery
- Eat soft foods until your specialist clears you to return to a normal diet
- Take prescribed medication exactly as instructed; finish any antibiotic course
Staying in touch between visits
In-person or virtual follow-ups
Routine post-treatment check-ins can happen at the clinic or on video — useful if you live far from Colombo or simply prefer remote.
WhatsApp access
Your coordinator stays reachable on WhatsApp for at least 6 months after treatment. If anything feels wrong, message us and we will guide you.
Dentist-to-dentist handover
On request, we send your treatment summary and X-rays to your regular dentist so any local follow-up is informed.
Emergency Contact
If you experience a dental emergency outside our regular hours, we're still here to help.
